C.J. Anderson & Company announces its new “Coastal Series” Type 316 fixtures designed for use in locations within five to ten miles of salt water. The Nickel Development Institute (NiDI) states that installations within this range are at risk for chloride-related corrosion. For these locations, C.J. Anderson can now provide complete fixture packages comprised of Type 316 Stainless Steel buttons, enclosures, faceplates and fasteners. The corrosion resistance of Type 316 stainless steel is superior to other stainless steel in marine atmospheres. Therefore, if airborne salt concentrations are a concern, contact C.J. This sample of painted cold roll steel was left exposed to a coastal semi sheltered environment. This sample has been exposed since 1988. The photograph was taken in 1996.

Type 304 Stainless Steel - NEMA 4X Fixtures:

All of CJA NEMA 4X Fixtures, including pushbuttons, cover plates, enclosures and fasteners are manufactured out of Type 304 Stainless. The sample shown below has been exposed since 1941 and as you can see without the proper maintenance of wiping off salt deposits from the air, this plate is corroded.

Type 316 Stainless Steel - Coastal Fixtures

The ultimate in corrosion control. This sample has also been semi exposed to a coastal environment since 1941. Our Coastal Series Fixtures have the longest life of any fixture on the market today. Remember, most back boxes are galvanized or cold roll, meaning they will rust. If corrosion is a concern make sure you are protected with NEMA 4X fixtures or Coastal Series Fixtures.
