These kits are configured to meet the Code Data Plate requirements of the jurisdiction(s) served by the Elevator Contractor.  The kits are made up of an initial supply of Standard Plates in labeled drawers with specific effective date range for proper application of the plate.

The kit contains special field marked alteration plates complete with instructions to identify specific alterations made on existing modernizations done under previously adopted A17.1 code editions.  These plates are used in conjunction with Standard Plates to provide complete information.

The kit also includes special plates for new minor alterations, door operators and to meet machine room temperature and humidity and test marking requirements.

The Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.1) requires that all elevators and escalators are to be equipped with a code data plate.  The specifics of this requirement are found in Section 8.9 of the 2000 and later editions of the code to be used for inspections and tests.  The requirement applies to all new, modernized and existing elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters and material lifts.  The requirements for code data plates became a part of the code in 1996.  The Code Data Plate provides code information for the elevator inspector to reference the proper code information for the elevator inspector to reference the  proper code under which the equipment was installed and/or modernized.  Plates manufactured by
codedataplate.com and available through C.J. Anderson & Company are designed to meet these code requirements.

Effective September 1, 2008 Codedataplate.com began to provide inspection tags in accordance with the latest requirements of 8.11.1.6 of the A17.1 Code.  These tags are available in Category 1 and 5 for Traction and Hydraulic Elevators and for Escalators and Moving Walks.

We will continue to offer our Standard Plates at reduced prices for a limited time in an effort to make it easier to assure compliance with Section 8.9.  Please note paper labels, “magic marker plates” and other non-permanent materials DO NOT meet requirements for Material and Construction.
